This three-month research program is broadly focused on forecasting from complex data, including spatio-temporal and networked systems. The topics that will be covered include high-dimensional data analysis, hierarchical models, spatial statistics, Gaussian processes, time series analysis, deep learning, and statistical learning theory. During this program, experts in these areas will gather at the IMA to collaborate with early-career researchers interested in contributing. The IMA will also invite scientists with problems that they would like to see addressed. The goal of this program is to create a research community that is actively engaged in collaborative work in the area of forecasting.
The program kicks off with a workshop that sets the research agenda for the next three months. Residents at the IMA will collaborate on projects that they bring forth, as well as on data-intensive projects coming from the IMA’s industry partners. During this period, the IMA will be an exciting and nurturing training ground for young researchers. The program will end with a five-day workshop that will be broad in scope and in which new results emerging from the program will be discussed.
The IMA invites researchers for visits of two weeks or longer to participate in the program. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Please apply through the general membership application.
The IMA gratefully acknowledges Cargill and Target for their generous support of this program.
