In this talk we will describe an application of biology to mathematics. We will show that if each species can invade the others in equilibrium then all the species will coexist in stochastic spatial models and will have densities bounded away from 0 on a linearly growing set in the corresponding reaction diffusion equations. This general result can be applied to almost all of the systems that fall into Case 1 or Case 3 in the scheme of Durrett and Levin (1994).
