Some Computational Issues in Medical Imaging

Some solutions to medical imaging problems are computationally extremely intensive. Examples are the use of image modeling Gibbs priors for the restoration or reconstruction of images and fully three dimensional image reconstruction as practiced in Positron Emission Tomography and in Electron Microscopy. In this talk we describe the nature of these problems and discuss some of the approaches that have been taken to reduce the computational load required for solving them.
