Computation of heteroclinic two-dimensional
invariant manifold interactions
We present and discuss alternative approaches to computing two-dimensional
(un)stable manifolds of steady states and limit cycles of saddle-type;
these are partially motivated from fluid interface evolution computations.
We illustrate such techniques by computing,
visualizing, and understanding global bifurcations
involving the heteroclinic interaction of two-dimensional manifolds of
different equilibria and/or limit cycles in a variety of
three-dimensional systems.
