Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory Schemes Applied to the Simulation of the Kinetic Equations

We will describe the designing principles and implementation issues related to the fifth order weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes and their application to the simulation of the kinetic equations. WENO schemes are especially suitable for simulating solutions with either sharp gradient regions or shocks. Their application to the simulation of the kinetic equations for semiconductor devices produces stable and robust performance. Numerical results will be shown.
