In this presentation, I will review some results and open problems
in the framework of the thermo-diffusive model. One of the main
themes is to understand how the existence and shapes of flames
as well as the speed at which they propagate are related to
the geometry and to the amplitude and frequency of oscillations
of the underlying velocity field. These considerations are relevant
for models of turbulent combustion.
