As 2011 comes to a close, we look with promise to 2012 as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our founding in 1982. Since the IMA's inception, the institute has grown to become one of the most innovative and prestigious mathematical sciences institutes in the country. In order to continue this forward momentum, private support is essential.
The IMA is in the process of remodeling its space on the third floor of Lind Hall for its main office staff. An especially exciting element of the re-model is a "math wall," which will be filled with equations and figures submitted by IMA alumni and friends.
The IMA invited our alumni, friends, former visitors, and supporters to submit an equation or figure to be etched on this new installation. The response has been overwhelming.
As we commemorate 30 years of accomplishments, we acknowledge that our success is built on the contributions and achievements of each visitor who has passed through our doors, and each donor who has supported us since our inception. The IMA has helped to build careers, grow the field of mathematics, communicate the role of math in our world, and make an impact on many areas of science and technology.
IMA Director Fadil Santosa looks forward to showing the wall to our friends.
