IMA Volumes in Mathematics and its Applications

Sample Letter for Potential Contributor to a Volume

Dear Professor YYYY:

The organizers of the IMA Summer Program "Geometric Method for Inverse Problems and PDE Control'' have planned to edit a book on the topics discussed in the workshop. We are writing to invite you to contribute to this volume.

The book is meant to contain review articles in several areas in Geometry, Inverse Problems, and Control of PDE, and will be published in the Frontier Series by Springer Science + Business Media, LLC, called IMA Volumes. The goal of this book is to provide an authorititative review of the subject, and to serve as resource for someone who wish to start working in the area. IMA has received assurance that the book will be 'fast-tracked', meaning that it will be put to production quickly, and will be given emphasis in the marketing.

We invite you to write an article of 10-20 pages in length on the topic of XYXYXYX. You may wish to recruit a co-author for this project. The organizers felt that someone who attended the IMA workshop would be particularly appropriate, but we leave it up to you to decide. Since the readership is expected to come from the geometry, inverse problem, and control communities, the submitted contribution will be read by two non-experts of the area for comments on accessibility. The deadline for submission has been set for January 15, 2002. We hope that you will be able to take time to participate in this worthwhile project. Please let us know as soon as possible if you will agree to contribute to the volume. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
