New IMA Postdocs

Six new IMA postdocs, selected from more than 100 applicants, will be arriving in September 2003. The new postdocs and their current institutions are

  • Gerard Awanou, University of Georgia
  • Karen Ball, Indiana University
  • Antar Bandyopadhyay, UC Berkeley
  • Tim Garoni, University of Melbourne
  • Chuan-Hsiang Han, North Carolina State University
  • Lea Popovic, UC Berkeley

The IMA postdocs will participate in the 2003-2004 thematic program entitled "Probability and Statistics in Complex Systems: Genomics, Networks, and Financial Engineering." All postdocs may, at their option remain at the IMA for a second year. A variety of options are available for second year postdocs including participation in the thematic program (which will be on "Mathematics of Matter and Macromolecules: Multiple Scales, Disorder, and Singularities"), industrial interaction, teaching and teaching development, and research, independently and/or in conjunction with University of Minnesota faculty.
