Upcoming IMA Programs
2002-3 Annual Program. This year's thematic program at the IMA is Optimization.
In almost every facet of human economic activity (and many other activities
as well) there is something that you would like to do faster, cheaper, more
efficiently, or otherwise better in some quantifiable sense, and so, optimization
is everywhere. This years program is concentrated on some of the most mathematically
interesting, and challenging, areas in this vast arena:
Supply chain and logistics
optimization in the fall quarter, New optimization paradigms and
approaches in the winter quarter, and
Information technology and optimization in the
spring.
-
Fall Quarter 2002:
Supply Chain and Logistics Optimization
-
Winter Quarter 2003:
New Optimization Paradigms and Approaches
- Spring
Quarter 2003: Information Technology and Optimization
- Tutorial: Network Management
and Design, Sunday, April 6, 2003
- Workshop 6. Network Management
and Design, April 7-11, 2003

Upcoming annual programs.
Summer Programs. The 2003 summer program at the IMA on Probability
and Partial Differential Equations in Modern Applied Mathematics will run
from 21 July through 1 August. The 2004 summer program will be on
n-Categories:
Foundations and Applications, and will run 7-18 June.
Hot Topics workshop.
- During the week of 3 November 2003 there will be a
workshop on Agent Based Modeling and Simulation.
- During 11-15 May 2004 there will be a workshop on Compatible Spatial
Discretizations for PDE.
Details will appear on the IMA web site as they become available.
Programs for graduate students. The IMA summer course for graduate
students will be held from July 14-August 1, 2003 at Georgia Tech on the subject
of Combinatorics and its Applications.
The IMA will partner with the Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences to
run a
Graduate Mathematics Modeling Camp at the new BIRS center at Banff,
17-22 May 2003, followed by an
Industrial Problems Solving Workshop
at University of Calgary, 25-29 May.
Graduate students completing their PhD can apply for
an IMA postdoctoral
membership for next year's program.
Participating Institutions Programs. The IMA supports a number of conferences
at its Participating Institutions. Upcoming PI conferences are:
