Math Modeling Camp at Banff

In May the IMA is partnering with the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences to run a Graduate Mathematics Modelling Camp and Industrial Problem Solving Workshop.

The Graduate Math Modelling Camp will take place from May 17-22 in the newly inaugurated Banff International Research Station, boasting superb facilities in the heart of the breathtaking Canadian Rockies (pictured at right). The fun continues from May 25-29 at nearby University of Calgary with an Industrial Problem Solving Workshop which will bring together the students from the modeling camp and a variety of math faculty to work on problems brought by scientists from industry.

Like the very successful IMA Industrial Math Modeling Workshop for Graduate Students and previous PIMS Graduate Mathematics Modelling Camps (N.B.: while IMA and PIMS share a vision of this program, we cannot agree on the spelling of "modeling"!), this May's program is a terrific opportunity for graduate to expand their mathematical horizons, learning new techniques and increasing their understanding of the important applications of mathematics in industry. Deadline for application is March 15, so don't delay! Applications by students from IMA Participating Institutions are particularly solicited.
