Sijue Wu, who was at the IMA during
the
Complex Fluids and Complex
Flows annual program
as a long-term visitor, was awarded the Morningside Gold Medal
at the
International Congress of
Chinese Mathematicians in
December 2010. Considered the most prestigious award for
mathematicians of Chinese descent, it is presented every 3
years to mathematicians under the age of 45.
Wu, who holds
the Robert W. and Lynne H. Browne Professor of Mathematics at
the
University of Michigan, is the first woman recipient in the
medal's history.
