Anna Mazzucato, IMA
Postdoctoral Fellow in 2002, has been
awarded the Ruth
I. Michler Memorial Prize for 2011. Mazzucato
is Associate Professor of Mathematics at Pennsylvania State
University where she has been since she left the IMA. Her main
research area is in the analysis of partial differential
equations, and she has made contributions in fluid
dynamics and inverse problems. She spent the Spring 2010
semester as a long-term visitor at the IMA. The award will
enable Mazzucato to spend a semester at Cornell University
where she can focus on her research. The primary selection
criteria for the Michler Prize are "the excellence of the
candidate's research and the potential benefit to the applicant
of a semester in the Mathematics Department at Cornell."
