Geometric methods have been successfully applied to a variety of problems in Computer-Aided Design and Geometric Modeling, such as NURBS representations of special functional forms of curves and surfaces (offsets, developable surfaces, blending surfaces, ....), tolerancing, sweep surface design, segmentation and surface fitting in reverse engineering. This tutorial shall provide the attendees with the basic concepts of computational geometry and its applications to industrial problems (see for instance http://www.geometrie.tuwien.ac.at/ig). The presented material is located in a broad area, which includes projective geometry and differential geometry in its center. It includes various geometries appropriate for computational algorithms with developable surfaces, canal surfaces, ruled surfaces, kinematical surfaces, ....
Linear algebra, calculus, basics of elementary differential geometry.
