Workshop: HOT TOPICS" Workshop:Mathematical Challenges in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Dates: Wednesday August 16 - Friday August 18, 2000 Organizers: Kai Borre Aalborg Universitet Gerard Lachapelle University of Calgary Brian Leininger Lockheed Martin Fan Liu Honeywell Total number of comments: 3 Statistics on comment on content Very good *** Fair Poor Other/Nocomment: Statistics on comment on logistics Very good *** Fair Poor Other/Nocomment: Overview of comments: The limited number of comments received were uniformly supportive both about content and logistics. I learnt about a new, amasing application of GPS. I made contacts to new people and enjoyed that the number of participants was small enough to talk to nearly anyone. All in all the workshop was worth the trip. My only disappointment is that the topic evidently not yet is "hot" for mathematicians. Selected comments Content: The workshop was very interesting - it gave me a chance to think about GPS issues outside of the projects I am currently involved in. I did get some new ideas and found several good references from the mathematical talks. Logistics: Yes, everything was wonderful in terms of logistics. The IMA support was perfect.
