Abstract

I will try to identify research questions regarding what is broadly called ``network security" that address each of the four stated goals of the Knowledge Networking initiative. The emphasis will be on suggesting directions of investigation rather than solutions to problems. My personal interest is in cryptology, but there are other areas where mathematics can be brought to bear on the subject.
