Computer
aided analysis of medical images (CT, MR, Ultrasound, PET,...)
is growing in its popularity as the benefits of non-invasive imaging
and diagnoses are becoming more and more obvious and as the amount
of data available has increased beyond level comprehendible by
manual analysis. In recent years, many research groups become
involved in investigation of methods for semi-automated and fully-automated
analysis of medical images.
This talk will provide an overview of general steps that are
required in medical image analysis, such as image preprocessing,
computer aided detection, segmentation, etc. More detailed excursion
into some areas of the preprocessing (various methods of image
gradient computation) and segmentation (active contours, dynamic
programming, active appearance models) will be provided.
