Front Tracking and Corrected Operator Splitting for Advection-Diffusion

We give a brief overview of a numerical method for advection
dominated advection-diffusion problems based on combining, via
a dynamical equation splitting, a front tracking method for
conservation laws with a finite element method for parabolic
equations.
This is joint work with Helge K. Dahle, Knut-Andreas Lie,
and Nils Henrik Risebro.
