Talk abstract:
Neural networks for data mining and knowledge discovery
Mark Embrechts, Rensselaer
Polytechnical Institute
Data mining and knowledge discovery (DM & KD) relies on an
interdisciplinary umbrella of tools including paradigms related
to statistics, machine learning, neural networks, fuzzy logic,
and visualization techniques. Neural networks can contribute
significantly to enhance the quality and understanding of a
DM & KD task. This paper will give an overview of neural network
techniques for data mining and point out their inherent advantages,
weaknesses, and network links to interact with other data mining
paradigms.
