Registration
you can register online for FoCM'02.
However, please read the following information and set of
instructions before launching the registration procedure.
It will save you time in the long run. (Note:
When you click on the Registration hyperlink your browser
will open up a new window. Thus you will be able to consult
the instructions on this page without leaving the secure Registration
site.)
(If you encounter errors during registration, please contact Rick Benson.)
You will be able to do
the following:
1. Register for FoCM'02 and pay the appropriate registration
fee and optional social event charges, either by credit card
or check. (Registration fees are Regular: $110 US [$150 if
after June 1, 2002], Student/Economically Disadvantaged Country:
$60 US [$80].)
2. Sign up for the workshops in which you wish to participate.
3. Subscribe to the Journal "Foundations of Computational
Mathematics" at a special reduced conference rate
of $59 US.
4. Sign up for dinners [$30 US per person per dinner]
associated with each of the three-day sessions.
5. Sign up for the Sunday, August 11 excursion [$40
US].
This is a `brunch and lock' cruise aboard one of the riverboats
of the Padelford Boat Company. An historically narrated cruise
from Boom Island in north Minneapolis, down the Mississippi
River, through the Saint Anthony Falls Lock in downtown Minneapolis
and return. A hot lunch aboard the boat and ground transportation
will be provided.
Boarding 10:30 a.m.
Depart 11:00 a.m.
Docks at 3:00 p.m.
6. Sign up and pay for dormitory room and board accommodations
[$50.25 US a day per person, including 3 meals,
single occupancy. The dorms have a rigid policy on
food. You can't pay for less than 3 meals a day. However,
the dorm meals are extremely inexpensive, so skipping a meal
to go to a banquet, or an excursion will be a small expense.]
The other principal housing option is a block of rooms
at the Radisson Hotel Metrodome at University, offered at
a special FoCM'02 rate [$89 US a day, (plus 12% tax), for
room, single or double occupancy]. You can contact the Radisson
online to reserve your hotel room. Click on
Radisson_Reservations
to see the instructions for this. (Note:
Hotel rooms in the University area are in very high demand
for the August 2002 period. If you want a room at the Radisson
with this special rate you need to act by July 14!)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING
ONLINE:
The registration site is,
primarily, used by the University of Minnesota to allow students
to register online for University Continuing Education and
Extension classes. Thus a few items in the registration procedure
can be ignored by FoCM'02 registrants.
Most of the registration procedure
is obvious. There are a few items to note, however.
1. Click on the "FoCM'02
Registration" hyperlink. You will see the FoCM conference
title.
2. Click on the "Continue
Registration" button. You will be asked to enter a Username
and a short password so that your registration will be confidential
and secure, and so that you can revise and/or complete your
registration in a later online session. Enter a Username and
click on the "Create Account" button.
3. Once your Username and
password are established, you will reach a demographics page.
Fill in only the required information in Boldface:
Name, Address, Phone Number and Email Address. The
remaining demographic information is not appropriate for FoCM'02.
4. In the last part of the
registration procedure, ignore the queries about ``coupon
code," ``gift certificate," ``mailing information,"
and ``public class list." They are not germane to FoCM'02.
5. You will have the option
to pay by credit card, or to ``Print
a Bill to Mail In" in the payment section. If
you choose the second option you will be able to print out
a bill, and then send the bill through the postal service,
along with the check.
6. If you are a Plenary
speaker or a Workshop Organizer you do not have to pay
a registration fee. You should choose the ``Print
a Bill to Mail In" option and write Plenary
Speaker or Workshop Organizer on your bill, in
lieu of payment for the registration fee.
FoCM'02
Registration
However, before launching into the
registration procedure, you may wish to look over the following
background information about FoCM'02:
FoCM'02 Workshop Talks
The choice
of speakers in a workshop is the responsibility of workshop
organizers. Many (but by no means all) talks will be by invitation.
However, if you wish to present a high-quality talk, there
is no need to wait for an invitation! You may approach directly
the relevant workshop organizers.
Computer Accounts at FoCM'02
The staff of the Institute for Mathematics
and its Applications (IMA) will provide e-mail/Internet access
to conference participants, during business hours. Details
about the procedure for setting up computer accounts will
be announced later. If you have questions, contact
staff@ima.umn.edu
