Talk abstract: Discontinuous Bifurcations for Dissipative Maps in the Plane
As a parameter is varied the invariant sets of a process can change discontinuously. One kind is a saddle node bifurcation. The other kinds are included in the term "Omega Explosions". In joint work with Kathleen Alligood and others, we claim the list of possible "Omega Explosions" is quite small. Computer videos will illustrate our techniques.
