Talk abstract:
Receptive field analysis of space and time in the visual cortex
Ralph Freeman, Univ. of California, Berkeley
Neurophysiological studies will be discussed in which single neurons
or neuronal pairs are studied by using microelectrodes in the visual
cortex. Stimulation and analysis techniques are used by which it is
possible to obtain complete receptive field maps in spatial and
temporal dimensions. One of the applications of this procedure is
to determine how pairs of neurons, recorded together, compare in
terms of a wide range of receptive field properties. Results will
be discussed along with theoretical implications.
