Talk abstract:

Some Mathematical Modeling of Allergy and Autoimmune Disease

Lee Segel
Weizmann Institute of Science

Two questions will be addressed. What can a model tell us about why the standard therapy for allergy only works sometimes, and takes months or even years to have an effect? How can a "reverse engineering" approach cast a little light on autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and autoimmune diabetes?
