Talk abstract:
Models for the Structure and Kinetics
of Actin Filaments
Leah Edelstein-Keshet

In this talk I will highlight some recent work on the dynamic
models of actin structure. I will describe work in collaboration
with G.B. Ermentrout on the polymerization dynamics of actin,
and discuss work in my group (with A Spiros, G. Civelekoglu,
and A. Mogilner) on the associations of filaments into bundles
and gels. I will also mention some recent ideas about the way
that signal transduction systems affect actin dynamics in the
cell.
