TUTORIAL SCHEDULE

This tutorial will serve as an introduction to the topics of the IMA Workshop on Audition, March 8-12, 1999.

Michael C. Reed will deliver 2 lectures as part of the tutorial on Friday, the 5th of March:

Lecture 1: From the Outside World to the 8th Nerve.

Abstract: This is an expository lecture for mathematicians and others with little knowledge of the auditory system: acoustic waves, the outer and middle ears, anatomy and physiology of the cochlea, transduction of signals from mechanical to electrical. Some previews of the auditory workshop will be given.
