Friday, December 18, 2009 - 1:25pm - 2:25pm
Lalitha Venkataramanan (Schlumberger-Doll Research)
The search for oil and gas has three objectives: to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs; to bring hydrocarbons to the surface safely and cost-effectively, without harming the environment; and to maximize the yield from each discovery. This talk will focus on some aspects of research in applied mathematics in the area of nuclear magnetic resonance and its application to the oilfield at Schlumberger.
