(IMA)
President-elect, Society for Industrial
and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)
Professor,
School of Mathematics,
University of Minnesota
Since 2001, I have directed the IMA, the
leading interdisciplinary mathematical research
institute in the world. In January 2009, I will
assume the presidency of SIAM, the largest
applied mathematics and computational science
professional organization. My research mostly
concerns numerical analysis, partial differential equations,
mechanics, and the interplay between these fields. Much of
my recent effort has been directed toward the development
of the finite element exterior calculus.
